Narcos for nerds, and some architecture
Hello,
This week I wrote another book review/summary:
If you watch Narcos, or know someone who does, they might like to read it.
I’ve been enjoying tweets from Samuel Hughes, who is into architecture and urbanism:

Reading in Abbas Amanat's great history about Golestan Palace (1860s) in Tehran, one of the most extraordinary buildings of the C19. A astonishing synthesis of Persian and European styles and techniques. Keen to hear impressions of anyone who has visited in person.

Segovia. Narrow streets, high plot use, courtyard buildings, an 'organic' curvilinear street network, three-to-four storeys, and a strong simple vernacular; all crowned by the great Gothic cathedral, built in the C16, when the Gothic tradition was dying all over Europe.

Til next week,
